‘The Simple Beauty of Everyday Things’ is a still life study of a cascading collection of pumpkins. The repetition of form and pattern with this humble vegetable captured me immediately when i spied this scene at a local cafe. Softly illuminated from the front windows i found this simple arrangement of objects to be so beautiful and organic.

Painting all the subtle tones was certainly a challenge, and pushed my skills to new limits. What has resulted is a painting which is both complex and still. I see this piece being a wonderful addition to a country kitchen. It reminds me of winters spent at my family home as a child and the warmth and smell of pumpkin soup simmering away gently on our wood stove.
