The Commission Process

  • The Brief

To get your project rolling, you will need to provide a clear and detailed brief on your commission requirements including size, budget, framing, subject, colour, inspiration and deadline/due date. Please supply any relevant example images, either relating to the subject, or of my previous work that may have caught your eye. Stylistic examples and even images of where it will be hung are all incredibly helpful at this stage.

  • The Quote

Once we have established a clear brief, I will provide you with a quote, outlining the details of the commission and expected delivery timeframe. If both parties are happy to proceed, i will request a deposit, and i can then begin working on your project. A 50% deposit is required to begin the work and order the materials in. The remainder is due once you have approved the final work, and prior to shipping or delivery.

  • The Painting

I may check in regularly to ensure the vision is coming to life as imagined. If i have a very clear idea of what you want to achieve with the final work this may not be necessary. Once the work is nearing completion, i will send photos for any final feedback, and for you to request changes, if required. Following final sign off your work will be framed (if requested) and shipped or delivered.

Testimonials

Stuck in London, I commissioned Sarah to paint a painting for my Australian Mum as a present for a big birthday. The painting was roughly based on a similar one she had painted before, but was personalised with special flowers and contained a little birthday message. The whole process was such fun, went so smoothly and it was so quick - and the painting is stunning. Since I’m on the other side of the world I have only been able to see pictures of it, but everyone who has seen it is raving about it! Thank you Sarah!.”

I approached Sarah initially to do a commission for us for a 'statement' piece I wanted situated over the fireplace. Her approach in explaining the process and collecting payment was very professional and focused and it instilled great confidence in the reliability of her character to follow through on this art piece. When the painting was ready, she would send me photos to review and comment. Always open to feedback, but also always gently offering her opinion. Since that first fireplace piece, we've since worked with her on 2 more large commissions for the same house project and 1 more for my own home in Singapore. Sarah's art is beautiful and thoughtful and she tries to capture the essence of what you want in the final art piece. Highly recommended for anyone looking to purchase in Australia or Internationally

Commissioning Sarah to do a painting was a great experience. We had an idea of the colours, size, budget and we knew we wanted lots of plants - but that was it. Sarah picked out a scene prepared a (sketch) and took input on things we wanted to change. She then did the whole thing, checked in to see whether we were happy and shipped it safe and sound. We love it.”
