The Sweet and the Sour

$800.00
Sold

***Charity sale for flood relief***

Acrylic on ultrafine canvas.

Ready to hang, signed on front.

45cm high x 35cm wide

Framed in Tasmanian oak float frame.

** Free shipping Australia wide. International shipping an additional $50.00.

The pomegranate has a personal symbolism for me around home and loss, stemming from a story my Husband told me about his time deployed in Afghanistan.

Historically it’s a symbolic fruit for many cultures. In Ancient Egypt it was a symbol of prosperity and ambition. In ancient Greece it was known as ‘the fruit of the dead’ stemming from its origin story; it was believed to have sprung from the blood of Adonis.

It seemed a fitting subject for a painting to be donated for the flood relief. The title- ‘The Sweet and the Sour’ meant to encapsulate the complex nature of the fruit itself, and my larger feelings about the world at present.

I will be donating 100% of the proceeds from this sale to the flood relief – exact charity’s to be determined by the @artforbales. Follow them on instagram to learn more about the initiative and the charities chosen by the the organisers.
